Karl Lundgren

Although I specialize in Luxury, Upper Premium and River Cruising, I also sell every major cruise line and have managed over 1500 cruise reservations for my clients. I have an ambitious goal and that is to create the best customer experience in cruising. From my vast product knowledge to the in depth service I provide, it is my goal to deliver consummate concierge service to all my clients.

Areas of Specialty
Luxury cruising is a difficult product for many to understand. The high pricing of these products leave most cruisers intimidated. I specialize in breaking down the value of the luxury cruise brands. When you consider the significantly larger stateroom size, higher staff to guest ratio, improved amenities and the all-inclusive nature of these products it can often be a better deal in the end than booking a more contemporary cruise line.

The stuffy perception of luxury cruising couldn’t be farther from the truth. Some lines, such as Regent Seven Seas, take a more casual approach to cruising with no formal nights and a country club casual dress code. The smaller ships generally operated by luxury cruise lines visit smaller rarely seen ports creating unique itineraries. In short, luxury cruising is not for the super-rich, it’s for the well-travelled cruiser looking for an enhanced and unique cruise experience.
Traditionally, Ocean Cruise brands were commonly broken down into 4 segments (Contemporary, Premium, Luxury and Specialty). Ten years ago a new segment between Premium and Luxury cruising began to emerge with the birth of Oceania Cruises. A few years later Azamara Club Cruises was born and fit well in this segment. The historic brand Cunard, also found a home in this category of cruising as Upper Premium continued to emerge as its own segment. Today it’s a well-defined segment of cruising with 4 brands operating at this level (Oceania, Cunard, Azamara and Viking Ocean). These brands offer the high quality service, amenities and in many cases larger cabin size of the luxury brands. They also offer a more inclusive experience than premium and contemporary brands, but are typically not as all-inclusive as luxury brands

Working with a travel agent that understands these products is vital to having a successful trip on these brands. Small details such as when specialty dining becomes available to book online in advance of your trip with Oceania or what dining room you’ll have access to on Cunard depending on the cabin type you’ve booked. These small details on their own don’t seem like much, but as they add up they make a significant impact on your overall cruise experience.
Whether It’s Ama Waterways offering itineraries in Vietnam and Africa, Viking River Cruises sailing in China or Russia, or Avalon Waterways operating in Peru, river cruising is no longer exclusively associated with Europe. River cruising is the fastest growing segment in travel, but with the popularity come challenges in availability and pricing. This is where I come in. You tell me where you want to go and when you’d like to travel and I’ll find the deal that’s right for you.

A common misconception about river cruising is that they’re all the same. With River cruising, just like ocean cruising, there are different segments of river cruise brands and within each segment each brand offers its own areas of strength and weakness. In addition to this river cruise line websites are set up very differently than ocean cruise line websites making it difficult for guests to research products on their own. These factors make river cruising the segment of travel that most requires the help of a travel agent to book. Furthermore, it’s important to work with a travel agent that specializes in river cruising.
